Potomac Arts Academy
The Potomac Arts Academy is a vital part of the College of Visual and Performing Arts at George Mason University, bringing university quality arts instruction to the community, whether it’s through innovative and inspiring music, theater, visual art and computer gaming classes or through a variety of special events and programs focused on teacher education and enrichment.
Official Mission Statement
The Potomac Arts Academy seeks to enrich the lives of community members of all ages, skill levels and socio-economic backgrounds by providing the highest caliber of artistic instruction in an accessible and nurturing environment. Creating a strong bond between George Mason University faculty and students, professional artists/performers and the surrounding communities, the Academy will ensure a vibrant future for the arts in our region and beyond.
In Fall of 2011, Potomac Arts Academy officially partnered with Acting For Young People, a premier theater education organization in the area. AFYP is now the Academy’s theater division.
